Terra Cotromano criminal case hearing rescheduled again

STATE OF ALABAMA VS TERRA COTROMANO CRIMINAL CASE (animal cruelty)

Interested parties on both sides of this case gathered this morning in Judge Fancher’s court, hoping for some forward movement. Once again, there was no forward movement forthcoming.

Today’s case hearing has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 23, 2010.

No lawyer shenanigans caused today’s reset of the hearing. Instead, a personal tragedy for the Bessemer Assistant  DA, who represents the state of Alabama, warranted the rescheduling.

Approximately two weeks ago, the Bessemer Assistant DA’s daughter was killed in an accident. A time for mourning is understandable.

This animal-cruelty criminal case is highly complex. It is intertwined with a parallel civil case being sought in the court of Judge Helen Shores Lee in a Jefferson County court in downtown Birmingham.

The Bessemer DA’s office provided representatives at today’s scheduled hearing. A request for delay had been submitted to the court on Friday, October 8, 2010.

Judge Fancher approved the request, set the new date, and the day’s business with regard to this case ended.
